Non-cancerous gynecologic abnormalities are defects in the
reproductive system of women. These defects in the vagina, cervix,
uterus, or ovaries are benign or not virulent. They are the
following conditions:
Cysts like Bartholin’s glands cyst, Skene’s duct cyst,
endomitriomas of the vulva, vulvar inclusion cyst, epidermal cyst,
and ovarian cyst
Polyps like cervical polyps
Myomas or tumors like uterine fibroids and ovarian
tumorsEndomitriosis
Adnexal torsion
Cervical stenosis
All about Cysts
Cysts are closed sacs containing liquid and semisolid substances
that are not part of the nearby tissues. Gynecologic cysts may be
the result when a certain part of the reproductive system of a
woman is blocked. When a duct, for example, is blocked, an area
gets filled with mucus and enlarges. Cysts may be as small as the
size of a pea or as large as that of an orange or even larger. Some
gynecologic cysts cause no symptoms, but some are painful and may
affect intercourse.
The gynecologic cysts are Bartholin’s glands cyst,
Skene’s duct cyst, endomitriomas of the vulva, vulvar
inclusion cyst, epidermal cyst, and ovarian cyst.
Bartholin’s gland cysts are located in the Bartholin’s
glands, the glands on the sides of the vagina that produces
lubricants during intercourse.
Skene’s glands are located in the opening of the urethra, and
Skene’s duct cyst occurs when a duct of these glands is
blocked.
Endomitriomas of the vulva occurs when patches of the tissues
coming from the lining of the uterus protrude from the vulva
forming a sac filled with blood and causing pain especially during
intercourse.
Vulvar inclusion and epidermal cysts are located on the surface of
the vulva, while ovarian cysts are found in either or both of the
ovaries.
All about Polyps
Polyps are non-cancerous growths composed of sacs of tissues
protruding so as to look like fingers. Non-cancerous cervical
polyps are located in the duct through the cervix.
All about Myomas
Myomas are non-cancerous tumors made, in part, of muscle tissue.
Cervical myomas are located in the cervix. Some myomas are
asymptomatic, but some, especially cervical myomas, cause heavy or
mild bleeding and pain during intercourse.
Fibroids are the most common non-cancerous tumor among women.
Uterine fibroids are fibroids located in the muscle layer and
connective tissues of the uterus while ovarian tumors are myomas
located in the ovaries.
All about Endomitriosis
Endomitriosis is a gynecologic disorder that occurs when
endometrial tissues appear and grow in parts outside the lining of
the uterus. Endometriosis is a noncancerous but chronic and painful
illness. It commonly appears during reproductive years and is
suspected to be genetically acquired.
All about Adnexal Torsion
In adnexal torsion condition, the ovary and sometimes the fallopian
tube may be twisted, causing blood flow to and from these parts to
be restricted. It also causes sudden and severe pain in the pelvic
area which may be accompanied by vomiting.
All about Cervical Stenosis
Cervical stenosis is a condition where the duct through the cervix
is narrow or closed that may result in the gathering of blood in
the uterus. It may cause menstrual defects and infertility since
the sperm cannot reach the egg. Although some cervical stenosis are
inborn others are caused by surgery, radiation therapy, and
menopause.
