Now is the perfect time to go solar at home – environmentally and financially. Solar power is a fantastic renewable energy that is an investment for now and future generations, by helping to reduce pollution and CO2 emissions.

On the financial side of things, getting solar PV installers in to fit your solar panels could well prove a superb investment in the long run. Not only does having solar panels fitted increase the value of your property, it could reduce your utility bills and, wait for it, it could mean you being paid by the government and your utility supplier for the energy you produce!
Feed-in Tariff Scheme

The Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme is a government initiative made to encourage the production and use of domestic solar energy. Basically, the government will pay you (completely untaxed) 43.3p for every unit of energy that you produce. Not only this, but for every Kwh of energy you produce, but don’t use, your energy supplier will buy this off you for 3p – potentially you could sell as much as half of the energy you produce back to your utility supplier. The Feed-in Tariff isn’t a short term thing either, as it is guaranteed to run for the next 25 years at least – the payments also indexed, so that they rise with inflation. So, whilst the initial outlay for solar panels may seem expensive, you should have made the money back from this within 10 years, and from then on you will be simply making money!
Solar PV Installers – No Sun Required!

A common misconception regarding solar energy is that you need lots of sunlight, which can be a problem in oh so sunny Britain. However, this is not true; all you need is natural daylight – that and a south-facing roof, so that your solar panels can produce electricity.
