I have recently tried to install Ubuntu 11.04 Natty on my new Gazelle Professional (GazP6) with a flash drive, but failed numerous times. The actual problem is that the laptop recognizes only the USB 3.0 ports (the blue ones) as bootable ports, so no other USB ports show the USB flash drive during the boot order selection. However, even if I place the flash drive in the USB 3.0 port, during the Ubuntu logo, the installation will fail with the error: " (initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system". The problem is that the LiveCD version of Ubuntu does not recognize the USB 3.0 ports (probably no drivers included?), so it cannot mount the filesystem from the flashdrive into the RAM.
The solution is to take off the flashdrive from the USB 3.0 ports after you see the Ubuntu logo on the screen with the progress dots changing, and insert it into a USB 2.0 port. The system will automatically search for new flashdrives connected and will detect the required files on the flasdrive after mounting it. It may seem like a silly workaraound, but it works! Good luck!
