B-School Survey makes one thing abundantly clear. Delhi may not
have an IIM, but it really doesn’t need one. The
Capital’s
B-Schools
in Delhi as well as MBA Schools do more than a good
job preparing their students to the demands of corporate world,
equipping them with just the kind of skills their potential
employers will look for in every newbie in the work force. Delhi-
NCR has 138 B-Schools for
MBA
Education, but various survey agency, Indus Learning,
pared the number down to 50 after a survey- based perception study
that mapped where the institutes fared in the worldview of 400
potential recruiters, parents, alumni and students. These 50
institutes then were contacted for fact files that provided data on
everything of interest to potential students or recruiters —
from faculty research details to placements records. The data from
the fact files and the perception study were then cross- weighted
to establish the final institute wise rankings. The data that
emerge from the survey establish beyond doubt that the
Capital’s Business Schools are not fly-by-night operators or
money- making machines. They have teachers with the right mix of
industry and academia experience, tie-ups with international
universities and well- stocked libraries; they have visiting
faculty from their global partners; they keep upgrading their
curriculum according to industry requirements; they have
specialised programmes serving the needs of sectors such as telecom
and power; and their placement partners include the best brands in
the corporate world. They fill up the demand supply gap, because
the steady growth of the economy has created an insatiable demand
for new managers. So in step the institutes that have been assessed
in this survey. Their drive for quality starts with their
insistence that their professors must constantly be engaged in
research. The IIPM, in fact, has an active publishing programme for
its professors. IIPM believe no research is worth the effort if
lies in a thesis format in some library. Constant industry
interface is another key marker of a quality B-Schools in India.
Likewise, IMT- Ghaziabad’s internship programme is structured
in a way that, every student is mentored and guided by a practising
manager, a faculty member and an institute alumnus. IIT-
Delhi’s MBA programme is equally applicable to the rest of
the institutes. IMT- Ghaziabad’s
MBA Courses is designed keeping in mind the changes in
the business environment and the needs of the industry. Delhi-
NCR’s B- Schools won’t disappoint you at least on this
count.
