When people suffer injuries as a result of road accidents, they
sometimes go on to make compensation claims. As well as enabling
them to achieve a sense of justice, this can help them to cover any
financial losses they suffered as a result of the incidents.
One man taking such a course of action at present is former
Apprentice contestant Nicholas de Lacy-Brown, the Daily Star
reports. The ex-business talent show contender, who appeared in the
fourth series of the popular BBC television programme, is pursuing
a payout after he suffered injuries due to a lorry accident.
He was out shopping in the Balham Hill area of south London when
the incident took place. Mr de Lacy-Brown suggests that a lorry
collided with a concrete wall, which subsequently fell on top of
him.
Because of the force of the impact and the weight of the wall, he
sustained serious injuries to his right leg. The limb was shattered
and after going through a number of operations to correct the
damage, he also developed infections.
The trainee barrister is thought to be after a "six or seven-figure
sum" from those he believes to be responsible for his pain.
Meanwhile, he also suggests that the accident held back his
career.
Indeed, speaking at the High Court in London, his barrister Henry
Whitcomb said: "He has had a torrid time - he's been very badly
affected by it."
Like many of those who take forward road accident claims, he will
not be able to find out immediately whether or not his case will be
successful. The hearing is due to take place next autumn.
Mr de Lacy-Brown was the first contestant to leave the fourth
series of the Apprentice, so he will no doubt be eager to ensure
that his current legal battle is somewhat more successful than his
efforts on the reality TV show.
