It’s virtually impossible to take a holiday in Orlando, Florida without visiting some of the theme parks it is home to. From Disney to Universal and many other smaller ones as well, you’ll be spoilt for choice if the mere mention of the words ‘theme park’ has you reaching to buy a ticket to get in.

The Walt Disney World resort is almost a holiday in itself. With four main theme parks and two water parks all rolled into one, you can see there is much more than a day’s worth of activities to look forward to here.

The Magic Kingdom is home to the famous Cinderella castle, but there are plenty of other attractions here as well. For example, you can see the Presidents of the United States and visit Tom Sawyer’s Island too. With plenty of rides for all ages you won’t have a chance to wonder what you can do next.

If you like water rides then don’t miss Disney’s Blizzard Beach. This has all kinds of chutes and tubes to test your nerves – the most spectacular one has a 37 metre sheer drop that will leave your stomach miles behind!

Universal Studios is the other major theme park attraction in Orlando. This offers two main theme parks, one of which is called Islands of Adventure. This has water rides and roller coasters plus a lot more for the less adventurous members of the family to try. Once you have exhausted all the rides there, you can visit the Universal Studios attraction too.

You’ll find plenty of rides here which take in some of the most famous Universal TV shows and movies, so watch out for characters like the Simpsons and Shrek. What’s more, since the area is used for various filming activities you might enjoy a glimpse into a real television or film recording as well.

One theme park you may not have heard of is called WonderWorks. This aims to entertain your mind, and it does so very well indeed. One of the exhibits shows you what it would be like to live through an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale. There are also flight simulators and a Wonder Coaster that gives you a unique roller coaster ride unlike anything else you have ever tried.

Finally you shouldn’t miss SeaWorld. With some famous rides and plenty of shows to see as well, this is a great day out for the family. You can also get closer to penguins, turtles and dolphins than you have ever been before.
